Libya is a mostly desert country, which was invaded by many population before gaing independence in 1951.
In 1959 Muammar Gaddafi in a coup took the power, and became the Arab world’s longest-serving leader.
The only protest against the regime of Gaddafi, who has the power from more than 40 years, started about twenty days ago when the population started to rebel against the regime.
The protest started in the night between 15 and 16 of February, when police killed two people during a manifestation in Bengasi. The following days many people organized, using facebook, other manifestation , where a lot of demonstrators were killed.
Meanwhile Gaddafi’s supporters were protesting in the capital city, Tripoli, to support the governor.
Since this day internet connections were suspended.
Recently the Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi has said his people will take up arms if a no-fly zone is imposed by Western nations or the UN, as many of the rebels have been calling for. Mohammed, a member of a civilian body, in an interview said that Libyan people are ready to die for freedom and nothing will stop them. There was also a fight on the 8 of march between Muslim an Coptic Christians which led death of 13 people and 140 were injured in clashes.
