Sudoku

Sudoku, the popuplar puzzle that uses the numbers 1-9, is a very famous game but it isn’t very new!
I fact it is based on the work of Leonard Euler, a Swiss mathematician of the 19th century.
He created “Latin Squares”, a grid in which every number or symbol appears once in each row or column.
A similiar puzzle appeared in an American magazine in 1970.
In 1984 a Japanese publisher saw the puzzles and was impressed.
He made them easier, called them “Sudoku” and published them in a book.
But nobody showed much interest in them.
In 2004 Wayne Gould, a new Zealander, persuaded The Times to publish one of the puzzles.
It was a big success and now you can find Sudoku puzzles everywhere!

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was born in Gary on the 29th august 1958. The eighth child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene along with his brothers as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1964, and began his solo career in 1971. With the Jackson 5 he did many hits, like “ABC” or “I want you back” and their most famous album is “Destiny”. As for his solo career, he reached the highest success with “Thriller”, the best-selling album of all time. The album was followed by other successful hits, such as “Billy Jean”, “Black or white”, “Bad” and “Much more”.
During his long career he took part in several collaborations with other famous artists like when he co-wrote the charity single “We are the world” with Lionel Richie, which was released worldwide to aid the poor in the U.S. and Africa.
At the beginning of 2009 he announced that he would have held his last tour, starting from London but on the 25th June of the same year the world lost one of the biggest star ever, “The King of Pop”.
The world still remember this skilled character who, during his life has received a lot of awards for his talent and also for his charity actions.

American exchange

Our school offers lots of cultural projects to improve our English and one of these is a cultural exchange between Italy and USA that is started on September.
First of all, 18 students of our school got in contact with 18 American students, then in October we went in Cape Cod near Boston and we lived in their houses and we did their life facing a completely different culture and way of living.
Of course we had lots of fun in going out every afternoon and having parties every evening!
The 16th March the Americans finally arrived in Rome and we had an amazing time with them: we went out pretty much every night and we bond great friendships!
